These seven day cruises begin or end with a salmon bake and interpretive Indian program on Blake Island in Puget Sound, across from downtown Seattle, continue into the San Juan Islands, lower Vancouver Island, and the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. Included are some of the ports of call from our San Juan Island cruises. Stops in British Columbia include the Brentwood Bay/Sidney area, where we can stay for two days, allowing time to visit both Victoria and the beautiful Butchart Gardens (shown above).
We will cruise between Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands to places like Maple Bay and Duncan (home of the Native Cultural Center and Forest Industry Museum); Chemainus with its beautiful murals depicting the history of the area adorning over 50 buildings throughout the town; secluded and peaceful Telegraph Harbor on Thetis Island; the exciting town of Nanaimo and beautiful Newcastle Island Provincial Park; and the popular Montague Harbor on Galiano Island.
These cruises cover much the same areas of British Columbia and the lower Inside Passage. Part of each cruise will be spent cruising through the San Juan Islands and Gulf Islands. Most of each cruise will be spent on the waters north of Nanaimo. We may make stops at Lasqueti Island at an oyster and clam farm, Squirrel Cove (a Quadr Island anchorage), resorts like April Point (Quadra Island) and Big Bay (Stuart Island) fishing is available at these two resorts, towns like Campbell River and Alert Bay (Cormorant Island), beautiful small marinas such as Blind Channel, Minstrel Island and Gorge Harbor. Scenic inlets and channels abound. Snow-capped mountains and glaciers are in view most of the journey. Names and locations like Desolation Sound, Johnstone Straits, Tribune Channel, Seymour Rapids, Dent Rapids, Hole-in-the-Wall, Princess Louisa Inlet and Chatterbox Falls will all become familiar and memorable. The area is truly the most beautiful of the inside passage with the sunshine, mountains, crystal blue water, and a much lower chance of rain and cold weather. These are truly places you must see to understand the word beauty!
